Quincas Moreira is an award winning composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist, sound designer and audio engineer with over two decades of experience. Born in Brazil, Quincas received his formal music education in the US, having studied Studio Music and Jazz at UM and Contemporary Improvisation at NEC. Back in Brazil after 8 years in the US, Quincas was hired by label and studio YB Music of São Paulo as an audio engineer and staff producer. 11 years later, Quincas decided to move to Mexico City, where he started to work in film music, while also learning to build analog modular synthesizers. The two things merged seamlessly, as the musical results of his experimentation with electronics were a perfect fit for film makers such as Everardo González, director of “The Devil’s Freedom." This award winning documentary won Quincas the Fenix Award for best original score as well as a nomination for the prestigious Ariel award, both in 2017. Also in 2017, Quincas started composing for the Youtube Audio Library, where he remains one of their most prolific composers with 140 songs available in a variety of genres. And since 2020 he has also contributed a number of songs to the Facebook Sound Collection. Today, Quincas runs QMA alongside Edgar López where they create music and sound design for films and tv series. Quincas also runs the Synth DIY Guy Youtube channel where he builds modules and produces overviews and tutorials aimed at the worlds of modular synthesizers and music tech.
