He received formal training in Rabindra Sangeet from Dakshinee. He also took training in tabla, his first love, from Ustad Ali Ahmad Khan for a brief period. Overall, he has learnt his music from avid listening of all kinds of music and in this sense; he is essentially a self-taught musician.Srikanto Acharya started his career as a professional singer in 1996. Since then he has released a number of albums of basic Bengali, Rabindra Sangeet and Devotional songs that have fetched him accolades and awards ….. ‘Platinum and Gold discs,’ ‘Best Puja Album’ and ‘Top Selling Bengali Album’ awards to mention a few.
